Skill Builders at The Carruth Center
These fun groups foster independence and confidence while our OTs help children with the skills needed for daily activities. Families may sign up for more than one session!
Cooking: Campers will explore different recipes throughout the week, while working on increasing independence in sequencing, safety awareness, fine motor skills, and the many other important skills that go into the cooking process! They will work together to prepare ingredients, follow recipes, and will get to eat their creations at the end!
Sensory and Motor: Campers will participate in various sensory-based activities and games focusing on building vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile awareness and regulation. They will also navigate obstacle courses and complete motor-based challenges to build their gross motor skills!
Fine Motor and Dressing: Campers will participate in fine motor games and activities to build foundational grasp strength, dexterity, and bimanual coordination. They will then use these skills to practice increasing independence in dressing tasks, such as manipulating buttons, closing snaps, or putting on socks and shoes!
