There is always a bit of a buzz this time of year at The Carruth Center. Our clients are busy wrapping up their summer activities, and we may not see them as much in July and early August. However, we are gearing up for the school year and getting excited about things to come! If you currently receive therapy services from us, your therapy team will be reaching out soon about fall schedules. Our therapy schedules are dependent on the Parish School classroom schedules, so our individual appointment times are not always confirmed until mid-August. Thank you for your patience while we move through this tedious process!
This summer, we hosted 96 children and teens through our various camp programs! I want to highlight our new program, Brain Boss, which helps children build executive functioning skills. These children worked together on a group project and gained a sense of time needed for each step, while trying to anticipate “time robbers” that may affect their schedule. Our campers began to develop a sense of the passage of time, which is critical in initiating, planning and executing daily activities for success. Look at this awesome board game one of our groups made together! As we get ready to go back to school, we are ALL using our executive functioning skills to manage the many different activities and tasks we need to prepare for the year! Our new individual therapy rates take effect on August 1st. We ask that all current families complete the information update packet that can be found here. This packet includes our updated policies and procedures, an opportunity to update your child’s emergency contacts and disclosure form, consents for therapeutic treatment and photographs, and our financial policies and good faith estimates. We need every current family to complete this for each of their children we see as soon as possible and appreciate your cooperation.
